Njokuani Steals Show, Griffin Grinds Out Decision at RFA 4
The seats were packed at the Texas Station in Las Vegas, NV Saturday night as fans were witness to an excellent card from top to bottom. Fighters from well known camps such as AKA, Xtreme Couture, and the always popular Team Alpha Male were in full effect.
In main event action UFC veterans Tyson Griffin and Efrain Escudero went to war for the full three rounds. It was a back and forth affair with Griffin getting the better of the stand up with his signature overhand right. Mixing in takedowns after the big strike he was able to stay ahead on the judges scorecards. Escudero put up a fight from his back securing several deep arm bars and guillotines of the course of the three round affair. In the end it just wasn't enough as Griffin took the unanimous decision.
The highlight of the night was Chidi Njokuani's striking as he put on a clinic against the always tough Phil Dace. Chidi, younger brother of UFC vet Anthony Njokuani, made his mark on national television as he swept and kicked Dace at will for two rounds. Each takedown attempt by Dace was met with him being tossed to the side, every clinch was met with ruthless knees to the body and from distance he was swept to the ground and kicked in the ribs at will. Njokuani's striking was reminiscent of Anderson Silva in that he was able to do what he wanted when he wanted from the stand up. At only 23 years of age, Chidi "Chidi Bang Bang" will definitely be one to watch in the future.
In other action on the card Marcio "Pe de Pano" Cruz submitted Joe Yager with a very technical reverse triangle in the second round in the light heavyweight matchup.
At featherweight Lance Palmer was able to win the split decision against veteran Fredson Paixao.
James Krause made quick work of highly touted Brazilian prospect Guilherme Trinidade in their lightweight bout.
In more lightweight action, former TUF competitor Dakota Cochrane looked absolutely amazing in his dismantling of Derrick Burnsed finishing the match via armbar.
In an awesome back and forth stand up battle Sergio Pettis battled back from a lopsided first round to defeat Xtreme Couture's Jimmy Jones by unanimous decision.
Team Alpha Male's Chris Houldsworth defeated Tyler Shinn with an awesome triangle choke.
Steve Mocco defeated Tyler Perry by Kimura in a heavyweight tussle.
Cory Galloway was able to get the TKO stoppage in his bantamweight match against Jerry Shapiro.
Jordan Isordia walked away with a unanimous decision in his lightweight bout against Joey Angelo.
