UFC 153: MJ's Picks & Parlays

After a brief hiatus from the world of picks and parlays, your boy MJ is back with some solid picks for the upcoming UFC 153 card. This card is stacked from top to bottom with a ton of quality fighters and match ups. The Main Event features the greatest fighter of our generation in Anderson Silva as he steps in on short notice to face "The American Psycho" Stephan Bonner. So, without further ado . . .

UFC 153 Picks:

Anderson Silva VS. Stephan Bonnar

Stephan Bonnar may be on a three fight win streak, but he's fighting the greatest of all time (Fedor excluded . . .lol). I see very little chance of Bonnar really showing or doing anything that Silva hasn't come up against before. He's neither an elite wrestler or an elite striker and while "The American Psycho" may stand a chance at going the distance, I don't see that happening either. Everyone would love for this to be a competitive affair, but Silva is going to put on a show in front of his home crowd and will destroy Bonnar in the first. This will be the last we see of the original TUF Alum.

Erick Silva VS. John Fitch

Just like "Little Boy Blew", John Fitch needed the money. Or so he says. When you really look at Fitch's recent record over the past several years, he looks less and less like a true #2. Erick Silva is Hungry, Fighting in front of his home crowd and is poised to make a title run if he can get past Fitch. Silva made Brenneman's wrestling skills look non-existent and while Fitch is a much better wrestler than Brenneman, I think he'll end up getting caught while shooting on Silva. It may not happen in the first round, but Silva walks away with a TKO victory.

Demian Maia VS. Rick Story

Who else can say they've taken Anderson Silva, Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman the distance? I think the difference maker in this one is the improved stand up of Demian Maia. This is a tough match up for both of these guys, but I think Maia edges Story out and ends up getting the victory my either submission or decision. Story will try to grind this out and I see Maia coming to cement his place as a top 10 Middleweight.

Fabio Maldonado VS. Glover Teixeira

Hype Train or no Hype Train, I'm using some good old-fashioned MMA Math for this pick. Glover beat Kyle Kingsbury. Kyle Kingsbury beat Fabio. Therefore, Glover will beat Fabio. At least that's what we are betting on.

Phil Davis VS. Wagner Prado

Phil looked like garbage up until the eye poke that stopped this fight short the first go around. If Phil knows what's best for him, he'll take Prado down immediately and will let his ground game take over. If he stands with Prado, he'll be in trouble. As a 7 to 1 favorite, Davis should be able to take this one. I'm going with Davis and am keeping my fingers crossed that he'll execute a safe game plan.

Dave Herman VS. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

These guys aren't even in the same league. A one-armed Nogueira beats an unmotivated Herman 10 days a week. Nogueira by whatever he wants.

Three Pick:  Anderson Silva, Teixeira, Nogueira - $115 to win $100

Four Pick: Anderson Silva, Teixeira,Nogueira, Davis - $100 to win $125

Five Pick: Anderson Silva, Teixeira, Nogueira, Davis, Maia - $100 to win $270

Six Pick: Anderson Silva, Teixeira, Nogueira, Davis, Maia, Erick Silva - $100 to win $550

Until next time . . . enjoy the fights!
