UFC on FOX 4: MJ's Picks & Parlays

With one of the worst cards in UFC history behind us, we now look to the future of the Light Heavyweight division as one of the winners of either Shogun/Vera or Bader/Machida will be matched up next against Jones. While this isn't as strong of a card as UFC on FOX 3, UFC on FOX 4 looks to have some decent match ups and with this card airing for free, you couldn't ask too much more from a card that you don't have to pay for.

Let's get this party started . . .

UFC on FOX 4 Picks:

Brandon Vera VS. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

As far as title shot eliminators go, I was just as surprised as anyone that Vera's name was somehow added to the title shot mix. While he may have a kickers chance at a win over "Shogun", I just don't see it happening. I see "Shogun" making quick work out of Vera and destroying him in the very first round. Vera's last fight in the UFC and potentially his career coming soon to an Octagon near you.

Ryan Bader VS. Lyoto Machida

If the Machida Era still has any gas behind it, I'm calling for a complete end of it coming this Saturday. He's lost 3 out of his last 4 and it seems that much of his Aura of invincibility is all but gone. I think a refocused Ryan Bader comes out and controls this one from the get go. Bader is an underdog in this one, but I see him grinding out a decision win that will potentially set up a rematch with Jon Jones.

Jamie Varner VS. Joe Lauzon

This should be a fun one until Lauzon sinks in his signature guillotine. While I'd love to get on the Jamie Varner band wagon, I think this match up exposes his major weakness against a guy that has subs for days. Part of me thinks that Dana White and Joe Silva were pissed about Varner dispatching rising super star Edson Barbosa but either way, this is a tough one for his. If he pulls it out, he may have just turned a major corner in his career. I'm still going with Lauzon by first round submission.

DaMarques Johnson VS. Mike Swick

Mike Swick is coming off of an unusually long layoff and looks to reignite his career after losses to both Dan Hardy & Paulo Thiago. Johnson has gone 4-4 in the UFC and hasn't had much luck stringing together consecutive wins. Both of these guys need a win here and need to win decisively. I think Swick outclasses Johnson on all levels and I'm expecting him to come in and finish him by the second round. I'm calling it now, Mike Swick by the Swickitine in the 2nd.

3 Pick: Lauzon, Swick, Rua  $100 to win $250

4 Pick: Lauzon, Swick, Rua, Bader  $100 to win $1150
