UFC on FX 3: MJ's Picks & Parlays
Coming off of a phenomenal UFC 146 and a solid Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale, UFC on FX 3 looks to deliver with a solid night of fights. The fights go down tomorrow night, June 8th and will air live on FX with the undercard airing on Fuel TV. The main event features a rematch between two of the top 125 pound fighters on the planet in Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson. The first fight was an epic matchup that ended in a Draw. Both fighters are focused and determined to reach the tournament final which will then determine the UFC's first ever Flyweight Champion.
If you're a fan of the sport, this is a must see card you won't want to miss.
Here we go . . .
UFC on FX 3 Picks:
Ian McCall VS. Demetrious Johnson
With both of these guys vying for a spot in the Flyweight Tournament Finale and a chance to be the inaugural UFC Flyweight Champ, I'm expecting both of these guys to come out even more aggressively in this epic rematch. Ian McCall's composure and ability to handle his UFC debut against such a high level of talent blew my mind. While Johnson has faced a higher level of competition over his career, it didn't seem to matter to the newcomer McCall. The hype behind "Uncle Creepy" proved to be true and I think he'll win convincingly this time around. My pick: Ian McCall.
Erick Silva VS. Charlie Brenneman
Charlie Brenneman made a big splash as a late replacement against Rick Story last year that no one gave him a chance in hell at winning. He upset Story and has since gone one and one in the Octagon. Erick Silva was on his way to two straight UFC victories until some inadvertent strikes to the back of his opponent's head lead to a DQ loss. While Brenneman may try to hold Silva down and grind out a win, I think that Silva's aggressive style and will to finish will be the difference maker either catching him while standing or on the ground. My pick by either K.O. or Sub, Erick Silva.
Eddie Wineland VS. Scott Jorgensen
While there is no doubt that Eddie Wineland belongs in the UFC, with back to back losses against Joseph Benavidez and Urijah Faber, this is a bad match up. Jorgensen brings a similar wrestling base and a grinding style that will probably not bode well for Wineland. Jorgensen has only been finished once in his entire career and while he lost his last outing by decision, I just don't see Eddie out working him in this one. I expect Jorgensen to control the pace and control where this fight takes place. This one has Unanimous Decision written all over it in favor of Jorgensen.
Josh Neer VS. Mike Pyle
Next to the main event of the night, this is the match up I am most looking forward to. Josh Neer is bringing a 6 fight win streak and a 6 fight finish streak with him as he looks to creep closer to title contention. Mike Pyle is also riding a bit of a resurgence although he did suffer a T.K.O. loss to Rory Macdonald just a few fights ago. Josh Neer is determined to finish Pyle and I have to say I believe he's going to do just that. Neer is an underdog in this one, but I'm calling for the upset. Neer by stunning finish.
2 pick: Jorgensen, Silva - $100 to win $120
3 pick: Jorgensen, Silva, McCall - $100 to win $400
4 pick: Jorgensen, Silva, McCall, Neer - $100 to win $1150
