Bellator 68: MJ's Picks & Parlays
Well, did MJ deliver or did MJ deliver? Heading into Bellator 67, I was confident that my picks were solid, but this is MMA after all. Anything can happen, and fortunately this time around it happened the way I predicted. Not only did Ryan "The Real Deal" Ford prove that he belongs in the big leagues with his knock out win over Luis Santos, but we also saw Michael Chandler send Akihiro Gono into retirement with the thumping he delivered last Friday night.
BFC 67 was a solid card from top to bottom and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that BFC 68 can do the same.
So, let’s see what Bellator has to offer this week . . .
MJ’s Picks for BFC 68:
Marlon Sandro VS. Daniel Strauss (Featherweight Tournament Final)
Pat Curran sits at the top of the FW Division as the Bellator Champ and will wait to see who his next challenger will be when Sandro and Strauss step into the Bellator Circle. Sandro and Strauss both have losses to Curran and would love nothing more than to get their shot at both the title and a little redemption. I think that Sandro's experience and hands will be the difference maker and I'm expecting him to just out edge the grinding style of Strauss.
Marcos Galvao VS. Travis Marx (Bantamweight Tournament Semifinal)
In my upset of the night, I'm picking Travis Marx to take the next step in his quest to fight for the Bellator Championship. Marx is coming into his own and with Greg Jackson behind him I think he'll have enough to out work and out point Galvao. Marcos has only finished one of his opponents in his entire career which should work to Marx's advantage as he'll go into the fight with a certain level of comfort. The confidence Marx will have knowing that he can simply out wrestle him without much threat of being subbed on the ground will be the clincher. Marx by decision.
Carmelo Marrero VS. Seth Petruzelli
Seeing the Kimbo Killer in action should be a treat as he's matched up with a game opponent in Carmelo Marrero. Marrero has faced some top talent in the UFC and even owns a win over Cheick Kongo. With that said, I think Seth carries some serious momentum with him into this fight with a recent TKO victory over Ricco Rodriguez. I'm giving the edge to Petruzelli. The Silverback by TKO.
Waachiim Spiritwolf VS. Marius Zaromskis
In one of the most anticipated rematches in recent memory, er I mean not so anticipated but should be fun rematches this week, we have Spiritwolf taking on Zaromskis. This should be an interesting fight as both of these guys come to bang. Spiritwolf can take a tremendous amount of punishment while Marius is great at dishing it out. Waachiim has a punchers chance, but I think Zaromskis is just on another level. Zaromskis by TKO.
3 pick: Zaromskis, Sandro, Marx - $100 to win $600
